Protein supplements

Navigating protein supplements can be overwhelming. Between powder, drinks, bars, and protein enhanced foods, there’s a lot to consider. A good place to start is to figure out which type of protein you think will be most beneficial to your goals. You’ll also want to think about how you will consume it - do you want to drink it? Add it to foods you already eat? Use a grab-and-go bar?

Once you’ve narrowed that down, you’ll be better able to shop for a product that fits with your preferred flavors and price point. Speaking of flavors, I’ve stopped giving out specific brand and flavor recommendations because I find that everyone feels very differently about the taste of protein supplements! If you’ve decided that a protein supplement is something you’d like to try, check out our guide to Protein Supplements to make an informed decision.

If you’re not sure that you really need a protein supplement, talk with your dietitian to decide if boosting high protein foods may be a better option.
